This is the readme for version 3 of the continental US mask data file. 
This is an 8-km land/water/urban mask for the continental US which I 
generated based on a USGS map of the states. This map includes urban areas in 
class 2 both from the nitrogen and lignen data and from the MODIS land cover map
(usmodisveg.bin). This mask must be used with the MODIS land cover map.
