-------------------------- CPTEC Global Analysis ---------------------------------- -Pacific and South American section - There are two dataset, covering different domains: -GPSATRS: tropospheric domain; -GPSASTS: stratospheric domain; - The data is stored in GRIB format. The grid points are defined as the following: Longitude: 81 points starting in 150°W, with constant delta-lon of 1.875° Latitude: 51 points at the following latitudes: -62.486 -60.620 -58.755 -56.890 -55.025 -53.160 -51.294 -49.429 -47.564 -45.699 -43.833 -41.968 -40.103 -38.238 -36.372 -34.507 -32.642 -30.777 -28.911 -27.046 -25.181 -23.316 -21.450 -19.585 -17.720 -15.855 -13.989 -12.124 -10.259 -8.394 -6.528 -4.663 -2.798 -0.933 0.933 2.798 4.663 6.528 8.394 10.259 12.124 13.989 15.855 17.720 19.585 21.450 23.316 25.181 27.046 28.911 30.777 Vertical: (Tropospheric) 7 Isobaric levels: 1000 925 850 700 500 300 200 [ hPa] (Stratospheric) 4 Isobaric levels: 100 70 50 30 [ hPa] Time: 304 times, beginning on June 1st, 2001, 00 GMT, with constant 6-hour intervals. Surface variables: psnm - Sea level Pressure [hPa] tsfc - Surface temperatur [ K] Pressure-level variables: mask - Land/ocean mask uvel - Zonal component of wind [ m/s] vvel - Meridional component of wind [ m/s] omeg - Vertical velocity in terms of pressure [ Pa/s] fcor - Stream function [ m²/s] potv - Velocity potencial [ m²/s] zgeo - Geopotential height [ gpm] temp - Temperature [ K] umrl - Relative humidity [ n.d.] umes - Specific humidity [kg/kg] Each time has a CTL file which describes the Grib file (grb), so GrADS can also be used. analise_GPSA.ctl and estratosfera_GPSA are template CTL files which cover the whole period (for tropospheric and stratospheric domain, respectively). The gmp files were generated with gribmap and must be downloaded or generated again.
