RSS-08 BIOME-BGC Simulations of Annual Water and Carbon Fluxes


The area mapped is projected in the ellipsoidal version of the Albers 
Equal Area Conic projection.  See the guide document.

Created jpegs from 1994, 1995, and 1996, including 
evapotranspiration, gross primary production, net primary 
production, and autotrophic respiration, and also
AIRSAR-derived Landcover 1994.

The images are in generic binary format with 1500 cols and 1120 rows. 
Each pixel is in 2 byte format (high order byte first) for files 
1-12 and 1 byte for file 13.  The unzipped files 1-12 seem to have 
an extra 256 unused bytes at the end of each file, and File 13 has 
an additional 384 bytes at the end. 

For files 1-12:
The images represent numeric values and have been pseudocolored 
as gray-scale images (larger values brighter) to match the 
numeric values.  To obtain the actual physical units:

et:  kg m^-2 = (DN/10)-1

gpp, npp and r:  kg C m^-2 yr^-1 = (DN/1000)-5

For the AIRSAR-derived Landcover 1994:
The image is pseuocolored based on the classification:
1. Dry conifer
2. Disturbed
3. Water
4. Wet conifer
5. Mixed forest
6. Fen/wetland

The 13 images were displayed at 0.25 full size after loading
into ERDAS Imagine, saved using the "View to Img" function,
and converted to JPEGs using Image Alchemy v. 1.10 and 100%
quality factor.
