BOREAS Follow-on DSP-5 Process-Modeled Net Primary Productivity (NPP)

The BOREAS DSP-5 team generated a NPP image over the BOREAS region from a
process-based ecosystem model, the Boreal Ecosystem Productivity Simulator
(BEPS). The NPP image was created from a series of composited AVHRR images from
April 11 - September 10, 1994. The NPP data are stored in a binary image file.

File Inventory Information

The "npp_boreas.img" is a binary image file that is 1200 pixels by 1200 lines
in size, with pixel values stored in 2 byte fields. The projection is LCC with
standard parallels of 49 and 77 degrees North and a central meridian of 95
degrees West. The NPP units are grams of Carbon per meter squared per year.
A digital number (DN) of zero is equivalent to an NPP of zero and DNs greater
than zero have an NPP value of (DN-1).
